Biggin Hill Primary School

Aspire

The Aspire class embraces a stage-not-age approach to teaching, recognising that every child develops and learns at their own unique pace. Rather than grouping children strictly by age, learning is carefully adapted to meet each child’s stage of development. This ensures that children receive the right level of challenge, support and encouragement, allowing them to progress in a way that is both meaningful and achievable.

In this dynamic and nurturing learning environment, teaching is personalised so that children can build on their strengths while receiving targeted support in areas where it is needed. Lessons are structured to promote independence, confidence and engagement, helping children to develop key skills at a pace that suits them. Staff work closely with each child to monitor progress, celebrate achievements and adapt learning opportunities so that every child can experience success.

Through this flexible approach, Aspire provides a supportive space where children feel valued, understood and motivated to learn. As children master new skills and overcome challenges, their confidence grows, enabling them to take pride in their achievements and develop a positive attitude towards learning.
